September 18, 2013 By Eryka Reid

RMI is happy to welcome Chris Cooper to our team as Project Manager/Nutrient Management. Chris holds a Master’s Degree in Agribusiness from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Tech University in Animal Production/Farm and Ranch Management.

Prior to joining RMI, Chris worked at the University of Florida Equine Sciences Center where he was the Farm Manager and Coordinator of Research Programs. Chris has also worked as a scuba diving instructor  and for seven years he worked as a horse trainer, performer and lead cowboy in the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show at Disneyland Paris.

In his new job, Chris will be responsible for providing nutrient management planning for all sites receiving RMI p

Chris and his wife Jocelyn along with their three dogs are currently residing in their motor home in Ashland while they get familiar with their new surroundings and find more permanent quarters.

Safety Training

July 16, 2013 By Eryka Reid

Holderness Fire Chief,
Eleanor Mardin, recently provided fire extinguisher training to RMI staff. The Federal Motor Carrier Rules require extinguishers in RMI trucks, and RMI’s Safety Plan requires them for its Holderness office.

Earlier this summer RMI invited Chief Mardin to provide a safety briefing and operational training in the use of various types of  fire extinguishers.

IMPROVING EFFICIENCIES – RMI’S EARLY DELIVERY PROGRAM

August 28, 2011 By Eryka Reid

August 28, 2011 was a memorable day for many in New England as Tropical Storm Irene passed through causing widespread flooding damage. Long after the storm passed, the significant rainfall, over 10” in some areas, left fields inaccessible for many farmers. Although efficiency suffered from weather-related delays, RMI worked closely with its customers making every effort to ensure biosolids deliveries were made for fall land application—if conditions made delivery impossible, farmers didn’t receive the nitrogen they needed for their crops.

To circumvent weather-related delays in 2012, which has already seen a higher-than-average number of hurricanes, RMI has worked with several of its Class B biosolids farm customers and developed an early delivery program that ensures each farmer will receive the nutrients they need for their crops while access is optimal. RMI’s customers traded a nominal amount of field space for stockpiles in exchange for the certainty that the fertilizer they need for a successful crop yield will be available. RMI intends to continue and expand its early delivery program for Class B biosolids customers into the future.
